Check Your Gas Boiler's Frost Stat
This is to let you know that 3 houses in Hermitage Green have found that their Frost Stat which is adjacent to the boiler installation has been set incorrectly at commissioning time.
What does this mean?
Well, the frost stat should be set between 3 - 5 degrees centigrade to ensure that if the boiler is located in the garage as many of ours are, during winter, should the temperature in the garage drop to below 5 degrees centigrade, then the boiler will ignite and heat the water in the pipes and boiler to ensure that they do not freeze.
All three of those that we have found faulty thus far have been set at to at least 20 degrees centigrade, this means that the temperature in the garage has to be at least this for the frost stat not to turn the boiler on.
If the stat is not set correctly what does it mean?
As in the case of all three that were set very high, the boiler has been trying to raise the garage temperature to above that set in the frost stat, meaning that the boilers have been permanently working for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since they were commissioned. Therefore if you have this problem then you have paid way too much for your gas bill since you have moved in.
